We have MUCH to be Thankful For! Read for a Thankful Leaf Family Tip..

Hello all! Thanksgiving is less than a week away! Have you decorated for fall, and now want to turn it into Thanksgiving decor? Check out some of the options that using wall decals can offer you!

This board has leaves, acorns and a decal about giving thanks. Sounds like fall to me! But it also has a Thanksgiving theme!

 WD058
Giving Thanks... Here's an idea for the those fall leaves shown above: Order them in a Yellow or Orange (lighter color so a Sharpie marker will show up).  Then let each member of your family or gathering write on a leaf and adhere the leaf to a wall, door, window or even a board or tile for preservation.

What are we thankful for this year?
1. A new Shop with more room and efficient work space
2. Dedicated employees that continue to help us grow
3. YOU - our customers - for your continued support as we would not be a business without you.
4. Amazon.com - a large marketplace that does a great job marketing our products
5. FAMILY - without the support of husband and children, running a business would be a little more challenging

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I hope you too have much to be thankful and can enjoy the holiday with your family and friends!

How to Apply Wall Sticker Stripes

Hello everyone! Remember awhile back when we posted a blog on how to revitalize your walls? Well, we decided to add some stripes to our walls in the entryway here in the shop! And we figured we would elaborate in this blog since we have stripes in that one as well!

Make sure to measure your space to see how many wall sticker stripes to order! Ours sets usually include 8-10 pieces. They are about 2 feet long and depending on which one you order 1, 2, 4 or 6 inches high.

Once you receive your stripes, follow these steps.

1. As with any other wall decal, you want to make sure your surface is clean. Just a damp cloth works really well!

2. Make sure to have all the necessary items ready! You might need a level, if you don't want to eyeball how straight the stripes are. (And believe me it is hard!).

3. Peel and stick. Yup, it's that simple. Watch our tutorial to see just how easy it is!

Our walls look so lovely! I think that's my favorite part about them. They make our entryway to the shop very warm and inviting!

I hope this tutorial helps you decide to add some pizazz to your walls! It's so easy and looks awesome!

Have a great day!

It's Time...For Spring!!!

Hello all! It is officially spring! Yay! How about airing out the house and getting it ready to be just as fresh as the new season? Here are a few tips on how to make your home feel refreshed!

1. Make a new kitchen back splash! With what you say? Remember those dishes you really liked and then one broke, and you saved the pieces because ONE day you would fix it? Turn them into mosaic pieces for your new backsplash!

2. Add a new rug! Go to your local home improvement stores, look into flat weave rugs, and figure out which one has the best prices. Flat weave means that it is made with a loom rather than being knotted. It is flat on the floor and doesn't rise up like a thicker rug does.

3. Add some fresh looks to your family room! Paint it, add a new chair or even add some wall art! Bring in the new season with a fun saying on a canvas board. Put a wall sticker in the sun room or on an old window frame.

4. Paint your furniture! Add color to your house this spring by refinishing that old bed or dresser that is becoming an eyesore. Make it stand out!

Find at: www.walldecorplusmore.com!
5. Throw a colorful blanket over the back of the sofa. Adding a splash of color to a room helps brighten the room and make it seem bigger. Spring seems to do that to the brain too. It becomes so renewed that you will soon be bursting at the seams to find a new project to do!

6. Sit on your porch or deck and just relax! Spring has finally come! Okay, so it's not really a tip for your home, but hey if you feel refreshed that helps your home too.

Refresh Your Laundry Room! A few helpful tips....

WD243
Have you been thinking about putting some new decorations in your laundry room, or have you been wanting to redo the room entirely? Hopefully, I can help you out with a few helpful hints.

Do it yourself! This will be budget friendly and give you the option of choosing all the colors, fabrics and even machines for yourself. You will also be able to go at your own speed and really get to decide how you want everything to look.

Reorganize, reorganize, reorganize! Put detergents, dryer sheets, and more in baskets, move it to a shelf, or just add some shelves. Any of these things will help your room to feel less crowded. Have a counter top installed for a larger folding area and work space!

Wall stickers from Wall Decor Plus More would be a really cute and totally different way to add spice to your new laundry room! There are so many to choose from, it will be hard to make a decision!

Add some new cabinets! It will instantly change the look and feel of your room, and help you to realize that you actually DO have a stylish room. No cabinets to cover that mess under the sink? Use a fun patterned fabric to make it disappear.

Revamp your laundry room with color! Painting makes a room come alive, and feel fresh at the same time. Stripes or chevrons on the walls will bring fun to the room!

Bring in the new machines! Even if that new washer or dryer takes out the whole budget, it will be worth it because your laundry room will feel like a completely different room!

If your laundry is compact or small, use curtains instead of doors to block off your room. Curtain rings will help it slide easily and looks beautiful in small spaces!

Budgets are not always fun. But backsplashes are! Use your money wisely and find a funky pattern in the clearance section at your local home improvement store!

Don't forget to check out Wall Decor Plus More to find the perfect sticker for your laundry room! We have so many options and one of them could be the perfect fit for you!

Decorating on a Budget! Using Wall Stickers, Slipcovers and more

Have you ever just wanted to rip everything out of a room and start fresh? I know I have. Unfortunately, not all of us have the means to do just that. So, let me help you out.
Instead of throwing everything away, let's start with the basics. Budgeting is a wonderful way to get that new room you've always wanted, and just couldn't quite attain. Make sure to read these tips before starting too many projects at once!

A fresh paint color can be so refreshing and might even change your mind about redoing the whole room! Put a piece of art up on the wall, or find a wall sticker that really speaks to you! Wall decals are so simple to put up, no nails or hammers necessary. Just measure the space you want it in, pick a color you like and purchase! Wall Decor Plus More offers a wonderful variety of stickers, from kitchen quotes to children's rooms decorations.

Another idea for sprucing up a room, if you can't afford to get a new sofa or love seat, would be to find a slipcover for it. Surefit.com has some lovely covers for a reasonable price. Bed Bath & Beyond also has slipcovers, as does Walmart. This is a much more affordable process than buying a whole new sofa set! If that doesn't work, you could get that new pillow that has been calling your name! Or you could try making one just like the one you love. Get creative and go for it!

Don't forget to check out Pinterest for decorating on a budget! Check out Wall Decor Plus More on Pinterest as well! It is filled with all kinds of ideas, from  DIY coffee tables to redoing curtains. Pinterest also has lovely ideas for hanging pictures, making your own kitchen shelves, or even a headboard!

I hope you can find something that works for you! I am going to try some redecorating myself, and I'll let you know how it goes next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Home Decor Basics: Painting Tips

We all want our home to be a warm, inviting place, but before we start thinking about changing the decor, look the basic projects.  Painting the walls is the single most dramatic way to refresh or spice up your interior.

Painting doesn't have to be difficult.  With just a little planning and preparation, you can easily change the look of a room in a single day.

In this article, we are going to assume that you've done the hard part, which is deciding on color and type of paint. Don't be afraid to ask questions at your local paint or hardware store.

Here are some painting tips that will have you becoming an expert in no time:

Assemble Your Tools

The painting supplies may vary from job to job, but the basic tools remain the same.
  • Rollers, covers and extension pole
  • 1 or 2 inch brush for cutting in and small work - slightly angled brushes work best
  • Paint tray and liners
  • Drop cloths and rags
  • Painters tape - this is the blue tape
  • Spackle paste and putty knife to fill in holes

Prepare the Room

Preparing the room will protect the furniture and flooring from a paint mishap and will ensure the finished product looks great and lasts long.

  • Move all small furniture out of the room as well as all wall hangings, drapes, etc.
  • Remove all switch plates and hardware if possible.
  • Use masking tape or plastic to cover anything you can't remove.
  • Small items (like screws) can be covered with vaseline or chapstick. Easily wiped up later.
  • Large furniture items can be moved to the center of the room and covered with a drop cloth.
  • Tape off woodwork and make sure plastic dropcloths are taped down.
  • Clean all surfaces as needed - mostly this is just dusting and making sure loose items are gone.
  • Apply spackle as needed to holes. Let dry.

Painting

The typical order of painting includes "cutting in" or painting the edges about 2" deep, the ceiling (if you are painting it), the walls and then the woodwork.

  • If you have a steady hand, using a stiff 2" brush can help you avoid using tape when you cut in, just make sure you have a damp cloth available for quick wipe-ups.
  • Use long strokes at the end. Using short back and forth strokes can help get the paint on, but always finish with long, smooth strokes.
  • Only dip your brush about halfway in the paint to avoid clumping up the brush and ruining it.
  • When painting with a roller, work in about a 3 foot section at a time, putting a W on the wall and filling in.
  • Almost anything will look better with a second coat - even the paint says it's only one coat.
  • Make sure the paint is dry before applying the second coat.

Of course, the least fun part is the clean up and putting everything back, but once you're done, you'll love the results!

Remember to let a newly painted room dry or cure for at least 2 weeks before applying any Wall Stickers.
