There are 2 ways monogram initials are usually chosen.  If it is for a couple, you would use the first letter of the last name as the large middle letter and the small letters to signify the couples first names.  If the monogram is for a child or a 1 person, you could use the large middle letter for the first name initial, the left small letter as the initial of the middle name and the right small letter as the initial of the last name.  There is no set rules; so you may feel free to change the order of things to suit. =)

Decorating your Home with Kids in Mind!

As you peruse the pages of Wall Decor Plus More, you may come to the conclusion that we have a few children ourselves =)!  That being said, we would like to show you a couple new Wall Sticker quotes we have recently released... with children in mind!

Another Great Tip for Difficult Wall Stickers

Here is a tip for you; if you have a difficult wall sticker or are applying to a rouch or porous surface. 

The difficult part usually lies in taking the top transfer tape off, once you have the sticker on the wall.  You can put off that step for 1-2 hours or more.  So you would leave the transfer tape on the wall with the wall sticker.  This will allow the wall sticker to have a chance to make a good bond with the surface before you take the transfer tape off.  It will look like the picture above, when the transfer tape is still on.

What is the Best Paint or Surface for Wall Stickers?

Do you LOVE wall stickers?  And hope to use them on your next redecorating project?  If so, here is some great information to consider.

A satin or glossy paint is the best surface for applying wall stickers.  Enamel paint is the best since latex paint is more porous.

In my opinion, a shiny paint is better than the roughness of the texture.  If you have to choose between shiny paint and some texture or dull paint and no texture on your walls, it is best to stick with the shiny paint and texture.

Flat paint is too porous and doesn't allow the stickers to adhere well.

The stronger odor your new paint give off, the longer you should let the new paint cure before applying stickers.  The odor likely comes for the gases in the paint.  Those gases can break down the adhesive on the stickers, making them to not stick or fall off sooner than necessary.

Moisture behind your sheetrock can also be problematic for your wall stickers.  Think walls that back up to cooling systems, water pipes, overhead windows or windows that have been boarded up. These areas are prone to condensation that may not be obvious at the time of application.

Would you like to know how we ever got started in the Wall Sticker business? 

Making letters for my Mom's classroom is how it all began!  After helping her trace and cut out letters for her Bible text each year, I was on the lookout for a better option.  About that time, craft cutters were making their beginning.  After we bought one on Black Friday, we found out how much FUN they were and things took off from there.  We now have 3 large vinyl cutters in operation.  We have 3 stay-at-home moms that help out along with 3 gals that work here with us.

It was been a wonderful 3 and half years and our Wall Decor Plus More business has been a great blessing to our family!  It has allowed me, as a mother of 5 children, to be home (we operate out of our basement with a play area close by).  With the added income, my husband was able to quit trucking for a 7-5 job in the first year of business.  This last year he also cut back to a part-time job; since he had expanded with more livestock on our place (and I no longer have time to help with chores!). 

But above all, we must continue to ask the Lord's blessing on our labors; as that is where all our help lies.
