Wall Vinyl Growth Chart - updated to feet

Wall Decor Plus More's wall vinyl growth charts have a new look!  To make application easier, we have changed all our growth charts to measuring in feet instead of inches.  No more of those TINY little inch marks to deal with - YEAH! =)  The growth chart still has the same amount of marks so each inch of your child's growth can still be tracked.  The red spots, in the photo featuring our cowboy growth chart, are an example of the 1" polka dots that you can purchase with your chart.  The dots can be wrote on with a Sharpie marker - be sure to choose a light color for your 1" polka dots so your writing is visible.  The 1" dots are available on the Growth Chart page also.  Quite a few of our growth charts automatically come with age arrows.  The age arrows are about 4" in length so they do not work for all spaces.

Vintage Victorian Floral Wall Sticker Pattern - New item!

Here's why I LOVE custom orders!...  My customers have such AWESOME ideas!  The NEW vintage floral wall sticker pattern is a request from a customer.  We took the design "live" on our website so everyone can use this SUPER idea!  Vintage Floral Wall Stickers!! They come in an 11 piece set where each floral pattern is 11" x 15" approximately.

Here is the actual item as it will arrive:

The up and down spacing is perfect for an 8 foot wall.  The design shown above is approximately 78" in height.  To fill a entire wall, just cut the sticker apart, keeping the up and down spacing intact, and evenly distribute the rows on your available wall space. 

With the room photo that the customer shared, she spent about 4 hours on installation with a little over 2 sets of vintage flower wall stickers.  The smoother the surface, the easier and faster installation will be.  The customer applied these wall stickers to typical orange peel textured walls.  An absolutely gorgeous nursery just waiting for the new baby to arrive!!

DIY Rock "Engraving" - using a Vinyl Sticker Stencil

We recently did some experimenting on rocks - a DIY engraving using a vinyl sticker stencil and spray paint.  I have to say we are quite pleased with the results!

First, we made a stencil using regular wall vinyl stickers.  To make this work we needed to have as many pieces connecting as possible.  The little inner pieces had to be applied individually.  Pictured is the slide-show effect of how it is done.
~ Clean and dry the surface of the rock to remove dirt, ect.
~ Then peel the sticker off the backing paper as you apply it to the rock.  The smoother your rock surface the better, but you will not be able to get a perfect application.  The vinyl sticker is not too sticky that you can't pull up and redo places.
~ Next you have to place all the inner pieces - like the middle of the "e" in Ymker.

~ Then you will need to protect the rest of the rock from overspray.  Marian used garbage bags in the photos, but we used paper towels on ours.
~ Spray paint the stenciled design.  Use as little paint as possible to prevent drips.  This is the part that is not perfect since the sticker is not perfectly adhered to the surface.  Some spots will not have a defined line - since this is outside on a rock and generally viewed from a distant this imperfection is not very noticeable.
~ Now you can peel off the stencil sticker and the tiny middle pieces.
~ After the paint has dried you will want to spray the rock with a clear coat polyurethane to protect it from fading.  This clear coat should be reapplied each year.
~ As you can see, this is not a "cut & dried" or simple process.  The whole thing will require patience and maybe an extra hand for asisstance.  But the end result is SO much cheaper than rock engraving and is well worth your efforts!
